  • AGM 2005
The next AGM will be held in the Home Club Sat 7 May 2005 at 12:00hrs. The AGM Social will be held in the Nuffield Lounge, Home Club at 19:30hrs, dress code is smart casual. In keeping with our new AGM/Social booking procedure, the AGM/Social date for 2006 is Sat 6 May.
  • Association Standard
It is with great pride that we dedicated our new & first Association Standard at the AGM. Mike Bridges acted as Standard Bearer and although a newcomer performed admirably throughout. After 25 years of the Assoc it is fitting that we celebrate this with the commissioning of a standard. The standard will be a colourful reminder of our past and with the help of our “new” ships, or future.
Our thanks to the Rev Ron for acting as temporary Padre and all the committee and members who have supported this venture.
  • National Memorial Arboretum
This was a very special event for the Association and was well attended. Captain Jerry Stanford, newly appointed Captain of HMS Bulwark was our guest of honour. Captain Stanford read the lesson during the Chapel service and joined with Mike Noonan our Chairman in planting the tree. Our thanks also to the Sea Cadet Corps units, TS Bulwark (Buxton) & Centaur (Dudley) for bringing along contingents of cadets to make the event very successful.
Our Vice-Chairman, Mike Bridges acted as Standard Bearer for our new standard and was joined by 6 other standards from around the Birmingham and Midlands. We were hosted for the social part of the weekend by the Nautical Club, who were as welcoming as ever. Our thanks to Bob Styants and the Engine Room Assoc for inviting us to join them at their annual social at the club.
We now have a focal point for all our members conveniently situated in the Midlands, where they can go and enjoy a quiet moment or two. It is and will grow into a marvelous tribute to our ships, those who now serve, those lost on active service and those no longer with us. Details of the tree’s position can be obtained from the Arboretum office.
